Umbrella Smart village

Your village can apply for up to 30,000 SEK in micro-support to start the first step towards a so-called Smart village.
The money can, for example, be used to collectively consider which service functions and other solutions you lack in the village and would like to work together to create and find your common needs and ideas to continue working with.

Project content

Umbrella Smart Village will contribute to new solutions to local problems. Associations and other organizations can apply for up to 30,000 SEK in support to create local engagement and mobilize to start the work with smart villages and similar collective solutions to local problems.

This means that you can apply for micro-support to organize inspiration and discussion meetings where you together brainstorm ideas for the village's future. You can jointly find out if there are common interests and things you would like to develop together.

There are often plenty of ideas, and this is a way to, for example, get help from a process leader to gather your ideas and compile them and sort out what you want to work on further.

It can also be a smaller lecture on development, the concept of smart rural areas, association-driven business activities, social entrepreneurship, or something else that can inspire to start a joint development effort.

The hope is that the micro-supports help to build a foundation for continued activities over a long time, that it should be a startup aid to get started.

Examples of projects:

  • Preliminary studies
  • Study visits to places where Smart Villages have been implemented with good results
  • Village meetings to initiate thought processes and collaborations
  • Meeting to create a village plan – how should our village develop in the long term?
  • Hire external expertise for investigation, analysis, statistics, etc.
  • Hire external expertise to conduct workshops, lectures, think tanks
  • Children/youth initiatives focused on local development

The support can be applied for by an association or organization located in the municipalities of Bräcke, Ånge, Timrå, and Sundsvall, with the exception of Sundsvall's urban area.

Micro-support is applied for directly from the leader office with a simple application that receives a quick decision.

About umbrella projects and micro-support

”Umbrella project” means that Leader Mittland Plus has applied for and been granted support that we can then distribute to smaller so-called micro-projects. The money is with Leader Mittland Plus and the application is made easily via a form, and a smaller group from the board decides.

In this way, we can distribute project funds with short notice.

The application process is such that the organization that wants to apply for micro-support answers a number of questions about its project, submits a detailed budget, and then waits for a decision from us.

When you have received a decision on micro-support, you can carry out your activity and pay the costs that you have had approved in advance.

Once the activity has been carried out, you report what you have done in a reporting form and submit invoices/receipts and proof that the organization that applied for the micro-support has paid for the cost.

When we have checked that everything is correct, we will pay out compensation for the costs you have incurred.

Our requirement is that everyone who receives micro-support must inform that the money comes from Leader Mittland Plus and the Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, as well as show how you have informed about it.
