From idea to reality
Step 1
Getting started
All projects start with an idea. Perhaps you have a proposal in your association or village council that develops your place? Or you have seen the results of other inspiring leader projects and want to drive your own? Start by writing down your idea and then contact us as early as possible.
What do you need to consider to apply for support from us?
Think about the following points, and we will help your idea move forward!
- Is your idea locally anchored? Projects funded by us should benefit many and be requested by those affected by the project.
- Who benefits from the project? Leader projects should benefit several, often a broader public.
- Which actors will collaborate in the project? A leader project must always take place in cooperation between the private, non-profit, or public sector.
- Is the idea innovative?
- Is your idea socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable?
- Also consider activities, target group, and budget.
- How will the project's results be managed and continue to live on?
Is there anything else you need to consider to apply for support from us? Please review our basic requirements and selection criteria. In our strategy, you can see our goals, focus areas, and principles. You need to be aware of these to see if your idea can be granted funding.
Step 2
Writing an application
Once you have talked to us and your project idea has received the green light, it is time to submit an application in the Agricultural Agency's system. We accept applications on an ongoing basis and make decisions on project support about 6 times a year. Keep in mind that both the processing and assessment from our board are based on what is stated in the application. Therefore, take the time to describe all parts of the application as thoroughly as possible, as this will increase your chances of a more efficient processing.
After you have submitted your application, you will receive information from us about when your application will be considered for a decision by our LAG board. They always base their decisions on our strategy and make a scoring assessment of your project. If your project receives an approved decision from the board, the case will proceed to the Agricultural Agency, which carries out the final part of the processing. It is also the Agricultural Agency that gives you the final decision on support.

Step 3
Implement
Once your project has been prioritized by our board, the project can start, but it is done at your own risk until the authority's decision from the Agricultural Agency has been received. Follow the activities, purpose, and goals, and the budget that you have received a decision on. Be sure to read through all the conditions stated in your decision from the Agricultural Agency.
We certainly want you to succeed with your project and are with you throughout the entire implementation. We are never further away than an email, phone call, or meeting!
Step 4
End
It is important that you keep track of the project's end date!
Before your deadline has passed, you must have completed all activities, paid all expenses, and made an application for final payment in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's e-service.
In the application for the final payment, you also tell us how you achieved your goals and what costs you incurred for the project.
We at the office are happy to provide you with guidance when you submit your final report for your project. Once your final report has been approved, the final payment for the project will be made.
